The Good at Party Poker

Party Poker is the biggest kid on the block. There are enough players playing online at Party Poker at any particular time to fill the largest stadiums in the world. The player base is larger then the population of the largest cities in the world. The record breaking numbers of players at this years World Series of Poker are only a fraction of what you will find at Party Poker on a normal day. Party Poker is simply huge beyond what any one could of dreamed just a short while ago.

One of the reasons Party Poker has been able to get and stay so big is because of the commonly held belief that the players that frequent Party Poker are the weakest on average compared with most other sites. It may very well be that Party Poker is the giant donkey corral with the livestock to pack your first million.

Be that as it may, what Party Poker has done to achieve what they have, is hung on! Party Poker opened as just another poker room at a time when a lot of another’s were coming online. Party Poker gained some momentum and they never let go of it. Party Poker, unlike any other in the industry, have constantly improved quality, and innovated to maintain their top spot. Party Poker hit the magic combination of quality software, marketing, a little luck and ran their business right. When you download the Party Poker software, you will be hard pressed to see what it is, besides the huge number of players, that sets Party Poker apart from the other online poker games.

But that is just it, its poker. Fancy interfaces that go beyond simply enabling us to play poker, get in the way of playing poker. Simplicity and functionality are what are key to the player. Pretty graphics, and dramatic animations don’t help us to get the money, or loose the money. Nice styling is great, colors and back grounds that are easy on the eyes are great, but an interface that looks like it was designed for the latest Xbox game, cannot do anything but get in the way of playing the game. Poker is not a computer game it is a game of people playing against people. From a large player base to elegant software, Party Poker does a five star job of enabling this.

You will not find anything at Party Poker that you cannot find at other poker rooms on the Internet. What you will find that is different is a game of your preference, with action always available. The Party Poker rakes are competitive, the bonuses are also, The Party Poker tournaments are superb, with large fields, and single and multi table sit n goes that start quickly. The Party Poker cash games are always lively and if you don’t like the one your in there are dozens of other choices at the same limit.

Information for US based customers on the passing of the 'Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006'

On September 30, 2006, the United States Congress passed The SAFE Port Act, which contained certain provisions known as The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006. This effectively makes it impossible for PartyGaming to continue to offer real money gaming to U.S. customers. On October 2, 2006, PartyGaming made an announcement explaining that, if, as expected, the act is signed into law, the Group will be indefinitely suspending all of its real money gaming activities in the United States.

Below are answers to a variety of frequently asked questions regarding the act and the company’s announcement. If you have other questions or concerns, please contact our 24/7 Customer Care team.

Headline Information

  • Who is affected?
Only customers registered with a U.S. address or who are accessing the PartyGaming system from within the U.S. will be affected by this act. All other customers and play will not be affected.

  • I am a U.S. customer. How will your services and access to your sites be affected?
If and when the act is signed into law, we will cease taking wagers from U.S. customers. At that time, we will also stop accepting deposits from U.S. customers while we assess and develop gaming and other potential offerings to U.S. customers that would comply with the new law. You will still be able to use our play for free products and certain freerolls, and we are considering a variety of products and services aimed at providing you with as much fun and entertainment value as possible within the scope of activities that are not prohibited by the act.

  • What does the act say?
If and when the act becomes law, it will immediately make unlawful the receipt by a gaming business of proceeds or monies in connection with “unlawful Internet gambling”. The act does not clarify U.S. law regarding the type of activities that constitute unlawful gaming. However, as the first piece of Federal legislation dealing explicitly with Internet gaming, it does make clear that the US government intends to stop the flow of funds from Americans to online gaming operators through criminal sanction to the extent that Federal or State law applies to the activity itself. The act also asserts that, under U.S. law, a wager must be permitted under the laws of both the customer and the operator’s place of residence.

  • When will the act take effect?
The act will take effect if and when it is signed by the President of the United States. It is expected that this will happen in the first two weeks of October, 2006.

  • Does this act have any legal impact on me as a customer?
It does not change the law as it applies to your activities as a customer. The act focuses on banks, payment processors and gaming operators to the extent they accept wagers or deposits that Federal or State law prohibit. We are currently evaluating the act and assessing potential offerings that our U.S. customers can enjoy under applicable law.

  • I am a U.S. customer. Will I be able to play until the act has been signed into law?
Yes. Until the act becomes law, you can keep playing for money on any of our games. If and when the act becomes law, only play for free games and certain freerolls will be available. We will provide notice before we turn off any real money game services for U.S. customers. We are considering options for a variety of fun and entertaining products and services for our U.S. customers that are not prohibited under the act.

  • I am a U.S. customer. Can I still play for free?
Yes. Play for free games and tournaments, and certain freerolls, will not be affected by the act if and when it is signed into law.

Partypoints, Merchandise, Freerolls, Monster and Other Events

  • I am a U.S. customer. What will happen to my PartyPoints?
Not only may you use your PartyPoints in our Players Club store as usual, but we have suspended the expiry of points for inactivity so that your points will remain in your account for use at your leisure. If these points are due to expire at some point in the future, we will give notice for you to use these points, but we anticipate that other services we may provide would include the ability to accumulate PartyPoints on top of your current balance.

  • What about any merchandise that I have already purchased using my PartyPoints but that has not yet been delivered?
We will process and ship any current or future merchandise orders as usual, although it is possible that if merchandise volumes are higher than normal, customers may experience a delay in receiving merchandise as a result of processing or stocking issues.

  • I am a U.S. customer, what will happen to my existing bonuses?
All of your active bonuses will be unaffected unless and until the act has been signed into law. At that point, any uncompleted bonuses will be prorated. For example, if you have an incomplete $50 bonus that required you to play 500 raked hands but you have only played 250 raked hands, you will receive $25.

  • What will happen to the PartyPoker.com Monster tournament?
Unfortunately, the structure of the PartyPoker.com Monster tournament makes it untenable to continue should the act becomes law. Accordingly, if and when that happens, it will be discontinued. At that time, we will convert Monster freerolls into cash equivalent amounts and refund that amount to any customers with unused freerolls.

  • What will happen to the PartyPoker.com Million cruise and other events you have been promoting, such as the PartyGammon.com Million?
Those events will continue as planned. For non-U.S. customers, the qualification process is expected to continue as planned. For U.S. customers, we are considering formats for qualification that would allow some U.S. participation in the events, while complying with the act.
